Reading Class for the next few weeks: Don't forget to read for Book-It and Read Across America each night!

11/23-11/24:  Finishing our Mayflower projects and reading some books about Thanksgiving, Pilgrims, and the Mayflower.

11/30-12/4:  We will be working on the story "The Secret Life of Trees".  It is a difficult story with a lot of facts to remember.  I will be assigning it as homework each night this week.

12/7-12/11:  This week will be devoted to reading and doing a cross-curricular unit on "Polar Express."  If you have a copy of the book, please bring it in.  Students will be reading it with the class, with partners, and in small groups.  The more copies the better.  On Friday of this week, we will celebrate the end of the unit and the December birthday celebration with watching the movie, wearing our PJ's to school, and having hot cocoa and cookies just like the kids do on the train!  More info. to come....

12/14-12/18:  This week we will be doing a unit over the story "Too Many Tamales."  As in the "Polar Express" unit, we will use vocabulary and spelling words from the book.  The story has a Christmas theme to it.  If you have the book at home, please send it in. 

 In my class, we usually have vocabulary assignments on Monday night, read the story on Tuesday night, and answer comprehension questions on Wednesday night.  This leaves Thursday night to study.   My reading tests are every Friday.  We review in class on Thursday and I send their book home on Thursday night to study.  These assignments are subject to change based on what we get dones in class.  Read my classroom homework link on this website each night to check the homework.  Thank you for your continued support. 

Read Across America Log Sheets are due every Thursday.  They must have a parent signature.  New log sheets are given to the students every Friday.
