Children are ALWAYS welcome. If you have any questions about how you can be involved other than attending meetings, please contact one of the officers or a committee chair. PTO Monthly Newsletter We will be sending out a link to the newsletter via PTO Manager each month. Please note a paper copy will no longer be sent home. Submissions are needed from parents for our “first day of school page.” Please upload your image (largest file you have, please) to our digital yearbook site, web address: www.onlineyearbooks.lifetouch.com. Any parent who does not wish for their child’s picture and name to appear in the classroom section of this year’s yearbook, please contact Deana Sewald at 610-298-8583 or dne1196@aol.com. Fall Festival “Early Settlers” Fall Festival Planning is in full swing. It is scheduled for Friday October 30th. Once again the Wildlands Conservancy promises to bring a great program for the children. They will be burning some calories as they learn Native American games in a relay format. They will churn their own butter and grind some corn. They will enjoy a peanut free corn bread snack. Water provided of course. Children are encouraged to wear autumn colors. There will also be a story telling program, craft and photo. Bagged lunches will be available for children and parents through the cafeteria. We are going to finalize the schedule soon and will be sending out requests for donations. If anyone has a special item he or she can contribute let us know, i.e., a farming family that can provide decorative corn stalks or hay bales. Please note, all kindergartners will attend the morning session. Before-After School Clubs Before-After School Clubs are in full swing at Weisenberg! Fit Kids (5th grade), Fun Runners (3rd and 4th grade), Book Club (2nd grade) and Sewing Club (2nd grade) are all off to a great start. There are more Fall clubs to come. Spanish and Shocking Discoveries will be offered to 4th graders in October and November. Look for registration forms to come home in the next few weeks. We are excited to offer a variety of clubs to our students however, the students STILL want more! If you would like to instruct a club please contact, Susan Bryan (610-285-2897) or Sbryan@ptd.net. The student’s Wish List for future clubs include: Science, Animals, Sports, Cooking, Art and building (Legos, K’nex, etc.) clubs. Please help their wishes come true! MOVIE NIGHT!! Weisenberg will host our first ever MOVIE NIGHT on Friday, October 23, 2009. Walt Disney’s “Bedtime Stories”, rated PG, will be presented. Join us for a night of great family fun! Tickets will be sold the week prior for $1. Sorry, no tickets at the door. Ticket order forms will be sent home with your children. Doors will open at 6pm, movie starts at 6:30 pm. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Popcorn and water will be sold at the door for 50 cents. If you are interested in helping with (clean-up, movie night volunteer or ticket sales) for Movie Night, please make sure you have indicated so in your PTO Manager Volunteer Interests Profile. We earned a 20% profit of $1,271 on sales of $6,359. It looks like we all stocked up after a long summer without our Market Day. A huge “thank you” to each of our 83 customers who ordered. Everyone can order: friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives. Remember, a sale will take place every 4 weeks. A new order sheet will be sent home with your child every month. Our customers recommend that you order on-line to see ALL of the products – including “clearance’ and “sale” items! October Promotions (yes, you can qualify for all three!): 1. FREE 1 LB. It was great to see the food come in on such short notice. This month we will be collecting the following items: Kindergarten: Instant potatoes, pancake mixes, cereals 1st grade: Boxes of rice, boxes of pasta and desert or cookie mixes 2nd grade: Hamburger or tuna helper, boxes of mac & cheese 3rd grade: Cans of soup, cans of spaghetti sauce, boxes of tissues 4th grade: Cans of vegetables, cans of fruit, cans of tuna 5th grade: Rolls of paper towels, bottles of cans of fruit juice, cans of gravy We are always grateful for any gift cards. These should be sent to school in an envelope with the amount marked on the envelope to Mrs. McGrath’s office. All food donations should be brought to school and placed in the purple tubs at the front entrance of the school. There will be another purple tub placed inside the parent drop off side of the building. Thank you once again for your generosity. It is greatly appreciated. Fall Roller Skating Party The Fall Roller Skating Party will be held on Monday, November 2nd from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Skateaway in Whitehall. Tickets will be on sale at the school on Wed. 10/28 and Thurs. 10/29 (no Friday sale this year due to the Fall Festival). More info to follow! Party Parents We will host three parties this year: a Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 23rd, a Valentine’s Party on Thursday, February 11th and an End-of-the-Year Party on the last day of school. If you are interested in coordinating, helping with or donating for one or more of the classroom parties this year, please make sure you have indicated so in your PTO Manager Volunteer Interests Profile. Visit the PTO Manager website (www.weisenberg.ptomanager.com) and under “Volunteer Interests” check “Party Parents.” We’ll send an email to confirm availability for each party. Mark your calendar for the party parent meeting on Friday, November 13th at 9:10. At this meeting we will try to get all of our coordinators and helpers ready for our parties this year. Sunny D Book Spree The Weisenberg PTO invites parents, students & teachers to collect and submit valid Sunny D UPC labels until November 11, 2009. Our goal is to earn 20 Scholastic books for each classroom! You can contribute by saving UPC labels at home and sending them to your child’s teacher. Valid Sunny D products include: Bottles – 1 liter, 2 liter, 3 liter, 128 ozs., 96 oz, 64 oz, 48 oz, 20 oz & 16 oz. 6 Pack Outer Wrappers – 11.3 oz & 6.75 oz. 8 Pack Outer Wrappers – 6.75 oz. 24 Pack Outer Wrappers – 11.3 oz & 6.75 oz. 12 Pack Cardboard Case – 6.75 oz & 12 oz. 24 Pack Cardboard Case – 12 oz. So if you’re in charge of snacks at the next troop meeting, church outing or sporting event, grab a case of Sunny D and help the PTO earn books for our children’s school.
