Friday, March 7, 2008 Book Drive – Vicki Lapid & Amy Costa Amy contacted our 3 recipients and everyone responded with a yes. Denise Salvitara from the Nurse Family Partnership needs board books for birth-3yrs. Julie Kurtz from Jackson Elementary again would appreciate books for K-5 students. Mrs. McGrath said she has a lot of needy families and would take all levels and store them in her office to distribute as needed. Before School Programs There’s a lot going on before school at Weisenberg. We have three great programs underway. On Wednesday morning, 1st Grade is visiting Africa, while 3rd grade is stretching the strings. Thursday morning, 3rd and 4th grade are exercising their voices. Soon, the 2nd grade will discover their artist talents with the help of Mrs. Sacco. Come visit and see your PTO funds at work. Box Tops for Education - Carol Trumbauer - None at this time. Children’s Mitten Tree - Sue McGorry & Amy Musselman – Event Completed. Elementary Challenge - Eileen Haddad & Kathy Smith Starting the planning process for shirts and bandanas. Further update at meeting. Fall Festival (Fall 2008)- Francine Stanley, Lori Barnett Working on themes for next year. Family Night - Debby Keba (Event Coordinator) – Event Completed. KidStuff Coupon Book - Vicki Lapid & Amy Costa Signed contract for Fall 2008. Kindergarten/New Student Orientation & Registration – Officers - Event Completed. Market Day – Debby Keba & Amy Link - Becky Kistler: Sale Day Volunteers (610) 657-5621 - Karen Winter: Telephone Volunteers (610) 285-4983 - February Results: Sales: $5,580. Profits: $1,100. Customers: 81. Items: 525. - Next Sale: Tuesday, April 1st from 5:30 to 6:15 – This is considered our March Sale even though the actual sale date is April 1st. - On-line orders due Wed., March 26th by 12 noon - Customers are doing a great job remembering to pick up their orders and they are arriving during the sale time window. Play Day - Sue McGorry & Fran Ledeboer The new date for Play Days is Friday, May 23 with a rain date of Tuesday, May 27. Due to construction, Play Day activities for K,1 and 2 have been moved to the Recreation Field near the High School. Mr. T is currently finalizing transportation. THANKS! Redner’s Receipts - Linda Roeder Currently we have $1,300 in receipts. We need $5,000 to submit. Please send these in with your students. We are also setting up a basket in the office for collection. Roller Skating Parties - Kathy Smith – Skating Party to be held on 3/31 from 5:30-8 pm at Skateaway. Note the ending time is earlier since PSSA testing begins the next day. Spiritwear - Danyelle Sweeney Spring sale will be in March. Staff Appreciation Luncheons: November & May - Carolyn Price - None at this time TV-Turnoff Week - Debbie Hippensteel & Rachael Shalaby We have begun the planning process and soliciting area businesses for giveaway donations and gift cards that we use to purchase popsicles. So far, Waste Management has given us $100 and promised a donation of wildflower seed packets for each child. Crayola has once again demonstrated their overwhelming generosity by donating an educational checkers game, Think-ama-Jink, as well as Wonder Magic markers and game tablets. These items will be used for the daily giveaways for the children that remained TV-free the previous night. We are still planning on giving away $2 coupons to the May book fair to those that remain TV-free for the entire week. We will need volunteers to help at the party on the afternoon of Monday, April 28th Weisenberg Staff & PTO Gift of Giving - Mrs. McGrath, Sue McGorry – Completed Weisenberg Walkers - Lisa Supplee, Diane Acker (school staff) - None at this time.
