There is a reading record that needs to be filled out every night for a Reading grade and they MUST have a book to read at school.  When books are completed, they will be expected to give a short book talk in front of the class.

For our next book report, our theme for the month of November is about someone who shows great bravery or courage in the face of danger.  I’m looking for a 50-page plus book.  The Gary Paulsen books are excellent.

Mrs. Stanco included a memo in last week’s Friday folder explaining our Green Corn.  We are still looking for a few parent volunteers to help serve the meal and help clean up.  This past week, the class volunteered to bring in different types of food for the meal next Tuesday.  Everyone will get further information on this.

The Unit 3 writing assignment is to write a 4-verse poem in a particular pattern.  It must be four verses of four lines each.  It should be handwritten on loose-leaf in pen and in cursive.  They can single space this one.  They must identify the pattern they chose with capital printed letters to the right of each line.  The end of unit three in the textbook explains what the project is all about. 

The field trip to the Governor’s Mansion, the Raleigh City Museum, the Capitol, the Legislature, and the History museum will be on December 10th.  If you might me interested in this field trip, drop me a note or an email.
