Discovery Quest Discovery Quest

Discovery Quest is the oral-speaking component of our curriculum that allows students to exercise their public-speaking and independent-research skills. Once a month, each student is assigned a Discovery Quest date, when they can choose either a quest topic from below or a current-event topic from a newspaper to present to the class.

Guidelines:

- Your Discovery Quest speech should be around 2 minutes.

- You may consult notes, but you may not read from them.

- You should speak in a clear, confident voice, and make eye contact with your audience on a regular basis.

- Your speech should be organized and stay on topic.

August Quest Topics:

- Discover where your name came from. This could be your first, middle, or last name, as well as a nickname.

- Discover a special place that you love. Tell why you love being there. You might share something you have that reminds you of that place.
