The Hearst Hounds Chasing the Mouse
Every Monday morning (9:00-9:30), K1 goes to the computer lab.
November 9th This week the class learned how to work with Microsoft Word's drawing feature. The kids practiced making different colored shapes. This helped them learn how to drag and click the mouse. If you want to practice at home, open Microsoft Word. Click "View" on the menu bar, select "Toolbars" and then "Drawing." Have the kids create different colored shapes. Some K1 kids were creating shapes within shapes! Have fun.
October 12 This week—October 12th—the class learned how to use the mouse and type in the class password.
If you want to practice at home, here’s what you can do:
Let your child move the mouse, and if you have Microsoft Word, have your child practice double clicking on the icon to open the program. Once they open a document, he or she can practice typing the class password: hearst.
Position your child’s left index finger on the “F” key and the right index finger on the “J” key. Then, have your child find the letters to spell hearst. Try typing the password three times.
They can also practice typing their names and learning to hit the return key.
The kids are doing a fantastic job in the computer lab. They are eager to learn and working hard. Good job K1!
