Message to Parents

I am proud to be your child's teacher for third grade.  I team teach with Mrs. Goodson.  I teach Language Arts (Reading, Grammar, Spelling, and Wriing). Mrs. Goodson teaches Math, Science, and Social Studies). We're looking forward to an exciting year.  We do not have a school-wide theme this year. However, our classroom theme is "Swinging Into Third Grade". 

Third grade is a year of growing independence.  You can help foster this growth by encouraging your child to unpack and repack their book bag and homework folder.  Help your child establish a routine of laying out their Nicki Folder, emptying their folder, and giving you work to sign or school notices to read each day after school. 

Once homework is completed and notices/signed work taken care of, encourage your child to re-pack their folder and book bag.  Oral reminders (which your child may fondly refer to as nagging) will help your child gain independence this year.

Often, when a child does not have a completed homework assignment with them at school or they forget to have papers signed, it seems to be because "their parents didn't pack it".  Help your child understand it is their responsibility to be prepared for school, rather than yours.  Together we can ensure that your child has a rewarding and successful year!
