What is a B.E.A.R.? A BEAR is a special notebook that your child will carry to and from school everyday this year. BEAR is an acronym for Bring Everything Always Ready. The BEAR will help your child stay organized and keep you in touch with our classroom. B.E.A.R. Rules: Take care of your BEAR, it will be used all year! Clean out the "Classwork" pocket every night. Take your BEAR home everyday and bring it back each morning. Keep your BEAR clean - do not eat or drink in front of your BEAR! Show your BEAR to your parents everyday - they will be so proud of your new responsibility! B.E.A.R. Don'ts: Don't make any marks or drawings in or on your BEAR. Don't leave your BEAR at home, in the car or at a babysitter. Don't let anyone borrow your BEAR or tear pages out of your BEAR. Don't put any papers in your BEAR that do not belong. What's in a B.E.A.R.? Here is an overview of what is inside our BEAR: Nikki Folder: On the front of this folder you will find the Homework Agenda for the week. Inside the Nikki Folder you wil find two pockets, one labeled Keep At Home and the other Return to School. If you find papers in the Keep At Home pocket, please take them as you find them. In the Return to School pocket you will find important papers from school. These will be papers from Mrs. Cason and/or Mrs. Landon. These papers will require your attention and most likely your signature. The back pocket of the Nikki Folder will serve as our family/teacher communication section. This will be for notes between you and me. Please stress to your child that this is ONLY for the teacher and parents. This also is a good place to put notes for excused absences or early dismissals. Check this section daily. Please ask your child to let me know when there is a note from you in the pocket as I will not have time to check each pocket for notes each day. I will initial all notes I read from you and ask that you do the same. That way, we know our notes have been read, even when no response is necessary. Zipper Pocket: This is where you should put all money to be brought to school (lunch, book orders) so it doesn't get "lost" in the bottom of the backpack. Students should take money or notes out once at school to turn in to the teacher. First Clear Sleeve: In the first sleeve you will find copies of our weekly spelling and reading vocabulary words. Second Clear Sleeve: In the second clear sleeve, you will find a copy of our Math Vocabulary words . On the backside of this sleeve, you will find our math study guide for the current unit.
