Thank you for your interest in Sarasota County’s full time gifted program at Pine View School. Being extremely proud of our program, we welcome the opportunity to share information with prospective parents.

Few public full time gifted programs exist in the United States. Not only is Pine View one of the select few, it is also the only one in the state of Florida to include elementary through high school level students. The school began in 1969 with 128 students in portable classrooms and has evolved into our current high tech facility with an enrollment over 2200. This evolution has created an environment that is unsurpassed by any program of its kind.

Pine View offers an accelerated differentiated curriculum. Our learning environment is designed to promote high level cognitive skills such as critical thinking, abstract reasoning, creative problem solving and scientific inquiry. Strong emphasis is placed on self-awareness, independent learning and character education.

Foreign language and technology are part of the curriculum for all students in grades two through twelve. High school classes are honors level and above. With 99% of our seniors preparing for college, Advanced Placement classes are an integral part of the high school curriculum.

Pine View provides opportunities for students to explore their academic, creative and leadership potential. Character education projects and service learning activities are designed to expand social awareness and to stress the importance of social responsibility. Empowering students to make a difference is a tradition of which Pine View is exceptionally proud!

Please feel free to contact our admissions office with additional questions.

Sincerely,

Valerie Barker
