October  Fantasy Book Project

                                    Due:  November 2, 2009

c    As you are reading, keep a list of vocabulary words.  These are words that are unfamiliar or unclear to you.  Choose ten of these words for your assignment.  Use a dictionary to write the definition and part of speech for each word. Then create an original sentence using the word appropriately.

c    Many fantasy authors create new worlds, creatures, and languages to populate their stories.  Keep a list of these features and write a brief description of each.  You should have at least ten words and descriptions.

  Choose one of the following:

o        Make a detailed and colorful map of the world of your novel.  Include several geographical sites (rivers, roads, buildings, etc.)

o        Draw a portrait of one of the characters.  Be sure to include details that the author has given.

o        Create a new character or creature that could fit into the story.  Make a drawing and write a brief description.

o        Make a word search that includes at least twenty words from the story.  Use an on-line source such as puzzlemaker.com to create this piece.  Decorate the border with images from the story.
