WEEK OF FEBRUARY 6 - TWO IMPORTANT NOTES!
(1) We will begin designing, building, and testing structures to examine the effects of earthquakes. Students will work in groups as "engineering firms" to first design their structure. This will include sketching the design on graph paper. Students will then be given toothpicks and miniature marshmallows to build the structure. Structures will then be placed on a pan of Jell-o and shaken to see which structure withstands the earthquake effects the longest without crumbling.
(2) TEST - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9. STUDY GUIDE AND POWER POINT ON SITE.
There will not be a lot of homework in Science. Most of our work takes place in our classroom/lab. Most of your homework will be a Lesson Review, Study Guide (for a test), or work on a project that you are doing.
