Daily Geography

Every day when students return from recess they complete their Daily Geography.  A map or globe illustrates the geography skills emphasized during the week.  There are two geography questions for each day of the week.  The questions progress in difficulty from Monday to Friday.  The challenge question is at the end of the week and asks students to add a feature to the map we have been using all week.  Students may need to use references from the classroom to help them.  These quick 15 minute lessons help students become more geographically literate.

Buckle Down on Ohio Social Studies

The Buckle Down workbooks we use provide students with coverage of the Ohio Academic Content Standards and Benchmarks for Social Studies using the Grade 4 Indicators.  Students receive instruction in Ohio History, People in Societies, Economics, Government, Citizenship, and Social Skills.  In addition to the workbook, students take part in internet scavenger hunts, as well as many hands-on activities and projects, including our year long economics project.
