Here is what is going on in our classroom:     

In Language Arts we will be reading the story "Mae Jemison: Space Scientist".  Our strategy focus will be on monitoring and clarifying and our skill practice will focus on finding and describing the main idea.  We are also working on our next book project during class.  Students are reading various fractured fairy tales and are creating their own fractured fairy tale.  Later students will create a puppet of their fractured fairy tale as the home portion of the project. 

In Math we are beginning Chapter 10: Add and Subtract Fractions.  During this unit we will be learning how to add and subtract like and unlike fractions and how to add and subtract mixed numbers.

The second Science unit is Simple machines.    Students will learn about how simple machines work and build one of their own.

In Writing we are focusing on writing that incorporates Science and Social Studies.  Various forms of writing will be completed during this time.
