                                      ME

I am Mr. Harmon.
I am twenty-one years old.
I have played on three platinum albums.
I have played in front of 15 thousand screaming fans at Ravinia.
I made a CD in Nashville with Tricia Yearwood’s bass player.
I have an 15-year-old and a 10-year-old son.
I am fabulously wealthy.
I have been signed to a record deal with Bloodshot Records.
My father was an illustrator for Walt Disney.
I am Mr. Harmon.

                         Bookshelf

There on my wall is my three-tiered bookshelf.
I really like it ‘cause I built it my self.
My books won’t stay on it, but I don’t care.

I saved fifty dollars and didn’t have to shop anywhere!

Rudiment Dance

My mentor said to hit the drums this way (a)

If you really want to make that rhythm flow (b)

If the dancers fill the floor you’ll know (b)

They dig the beat , so play, play, play (a)

Yelling for more they plead,  “Please stay!” (a)

“Encore, man! On with the show!” (b)

If you take a break they all will crow (b)

So keep on going ‘til the dawn turns gray (a)

I get a thrill to watch them move (c)

To see them sway to my rhythmic jam (d)

Swinging movement, cool, cool, cool (e)

As the room heats up we hit our groove (c)

Time for a solo, paradiddle flam (d)

My dancing rudiments shine like a jewel (e)

Fatherhood

I love this neighborhood
but it keeps changing
new people keep moving in
every time I think I've gotten a handle on it
I see a need for improvement
in me
