In Literature (LIT) our textbook is the Language of Literature. This quarter we'll be exploring Units 2: Relationships, and 3: Flights of Imagination, while continuing to develop effective strategies for reading in all formats. Our second literacy group experience will involve the timeless story of individuality vs. group control, The Giver, by Lois Lowry. We'll also practice vocabulary; as a class by exploring the 2^nd set (26-50) of our 100 Greek and Latin Roots, and independently in our Vocabulary Workshop workbook and respond to all forms of literature in our readers workshop.

In Language Arts (LA) our textbook is The Language Network.  This quarter we’ll build our skills in grammar, usage and mechanics using chapters 1 & 8. We'll explore writing memoirs, poetry & expository writing, incorporating the writers workshop model. 

These two subjects will be combined into one class called English Language Arts (ELA) with one grade.
