Homework Policy

Homework is assigned each night Monday through Thursday night. It should take about twenty minutes to complete. Math fact cards should also be reviewed daily. Any unfinished assignments will be completed at recess. Homework should be found in your child's homework folder on the Bring Back side. Spelling- We take our test each Friday. New lists are sent home each Monday in the back cover of the homework folder. Be sure to spend a few minutes practicing the words at home each night. Remember the best way to practice is to write the words. You may also want to play different kind of games to make it fun. A "practice spelling test" on a Wednesday will show you what words your child may need to still practice.
Math- Review math facts a few minutes each night. Remember our goal in 2nd grade is quick recall. Additional reinforcement activities come home frequently as well. Reading/Language- Reinforcement activities will come during the week that will give some additional practice with what we did in class during the day.Reading- Take a few minutes to enjoy a book together each night. For suggested titles, check out my booklist page. If you are not sure if a book is too easy or difficult for your child, open it to any page. If your child makes five mistakes while reading orally, it is too difficult.
