Here is the news for the week of: November 9 -13, 2009 Be sure to check back here each week for my newsletter. I will have it updated every Sunday so be sure to check back anytime after then for upcoming news and events. New events are now in red. What will we do this week? This week we will read our next story Turtle's Race with Beaver. This is a story about a turtle and beaver who have a race to decide who should get to live in the pond. Main idea, details, character and setting will be reviewed and practiced. In spelling we will work with r controlled words. Our test will be on Friday. In grammar we will review proper nouns and how to make words plural. In math, we will continue to practice all our addition math facts. We will complete our next unit of study on graphing and take our chapter check. In social studies, we will continue our unit on Native Americans and complete our study of the Plains tribe. We will also learn about the Woodland tribe. Specials This Week Monday- Library Tuesday- Too Good for Drugs Wednesday- Music Thursday- Art Friday- Gym
Teacher News
Thank you to all who sent in a treat for our Fall Festival. The kids enjoyed hay bale jumping, pumpkin rolling, and games with gourds. To see what we did, check out the slide show. The password is the same.
November orders will be due back by November 24, 2009 if interested. This will be the last chance to order before Christmas.
Book It has been sent home. November Book It is due back to school by December 2, 2009.
Friday, November 13th will be PJ Day. You may wear pj's and bring your favorite stuffed toy to join in the fun. Please no summer pj's! We are planning on going outside for recess. Sneakers should be worn to school since it is gym day. The kids can change in to their slippers at school.
Letters were sent home from the PTO about Movie Night. The movie shown will be Up. Movie Night will be November 10th and 11th at 6:30 p.m. at the Middle School.
We have created all of our addition math facts. Please take a few minutes each night to practice. Return the math card envelope each day so we can practice our facts at school as well.
Conference letters were sent home the first week of November. Please sign and return the bottom portion a.s.a.p. so I can begin the rescheduling process. Evening appointments are filled up at this time. Conferences will be held November 19 through the 24th. The children will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. You will receive your child's report card at the conference. The schools will be closed on November 25, 2009 for a Teacher Inservice Day.
The school will be closed November 26 - 30th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
The PTO has sent home KidStuff books as a fundraiser. If you are not planning on purchasing a book, please return it a.s.a.p. so it can be used to fill orders. They were due back on Friday, October 30, 2009. Thank you!
To help prevent the spread of colds and germs, please continue to encourage your child to cough in the their arm and wash their hands regularly. We have hand sanitizer in our classroom as well to use. Be sure to scroll down the page for PTO news.

Every Day Reminders... Be sure to practice your math facts a few minutes each night. We will be having checks a few times each week. Be sure to return your math facts to school each day. Make sure homework folders (Keep at Home side) are emptied each evening. Homework is assigned every night except Friday and should be in the Return to School side. If you are picking your child up from school, please remember to call or send in a note. Thank you! Be sure to click on the calendar tab at the left each week to see what other things may be scheduled or when we have our special classes. Please keep the math help reference sheet in the front of your child's homework folder and the spelling list in the back. We use both during the week in class. Thank you!
