Math

 We use the Harcourt math series. You may use the following link to access more information and activities from Harcourt.   In Second grade, we will:

* Review addition and subtraction facts from first grade

*Math facts addtion and subtraction to 18

*Place value up to 1,000

*Counting coins and making different amounts up to 1.00 (pennies through half dollars)

*Order numbers up to 1,000

*Greater than and less than

*Two and three digit addition and subtraction with trading

*Telling time up to five minute intervals

*Fractions

*Measurement (English and metric system)

*Graphing (bar, pictograph)

*Problem Solving

*Geometry (plane and solid figures)

I will send home with your child the table of contents from our math book the first few days of school so you can see exactly what we will be working on this year.  We do not go in order, but instead cover more difficult concepts and allow practice time as we cover easier concepts.  If you would like to know what skills we are working on specifically, please check the Ettinger Express each week.
