This page will be reviewed and updated over the summer. We will start the school year by going over the rules and procedures in detail Complete Classroom Management PlanBy Terii Cummins Rules:1. Be On Time2. Be Prepared (Have materials)3. Be Respectful4. Do not talk when anyone else is talking5. Get out of your seat only with permission-raise your hand for help or guidance*These are my basic rules; most of mine are actually procedures. I also plan to spend my first 2-3 days using cooperative groups to brainstorm 1 rule they think is essential, then discussing it as a class and creating out final list together so they feel more involved in the process. It is necessary to have rules that are both general and specific.
Examples of general rules:
1. Be prompt. 2. Be neat. 3. Be prepared. 4. Be considerate. 5. Follow instructions. 6. Do your best.
Examples of specific rules:
1. Respect others--keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself. 2. Use self-control (count to 10 if you get angry). 3. Raise your hand for permission. 4. Ask for permission to talk. 5. Ask for permission to leave your desk.Consequences:1. Warning2. Loss of Break3. Silent Lunch4. Phone Call/Note Home5. Detention6. Office ReferralProcedures: *I have learned from last year that even the simplest tasks need to have specific instructions, so I have remedied that by creating many routines. I will not say this list is complete, but it is well on its way. I also plan to include the students in the same way in brainstorming rules they feel are important. Entering the Room - line up outside of room - wait to enter until invited by teacher - enter quietly - sharpen pencil if needed - take your seat - begin bell work or posted assignment Sharpening pencils - upon entering room sharpen pencil - no talking while sharpening pencil - when finished immediately return to desk - begin assignment or bell work Turning in assignments - ensure assignment has complete heading (see procedure for heading a paper) - this needs to include your assigned number - place completed assignment in grade level basket located at front of room - return to desk - read a book or - get an early finisher activity and complete it or - work on homework - This is done by yourself and with no talking Homework - Anything not finished in class or assigned to be done at home - Will be turned in at the beginning of class the next day - Turn in work upon entering the classroom - Any homework not turned in will have 10 points taken off of final grade for each day late - The days where all homework is turned in there will be a tally mark given o Tally marks will be given, and the class will receive a reward based on the number of days all homework is turned in. Classroom Behavior/Respect - Do not speak when the teacher or another student is speaking - Raise your hand to ask a question or to get help - Do not get out of your chair without permission - The teacher’s desk is off limits and so is everything on it o If I want you to come to my desk I will tell you o I will come to you if you need help - If you are asked a question, answer to the best of your ability o If you do not know the answer then say so - Do your best at all times - Try to get the answer yourself before asking for help Hallway Behavior - When we line up, we are to be quiet - Be in a straight line - Do not play around - Remember you are the example for the younger students - Do not slam locker doors or you will lose your locker privileges for a day Signal: My signal will be to use a bell that sits on my desk. When they hear this bell students: 1. Stop whatever they are doing 2. Place anything in their hands down 3. Be quiet 4. Face teacher 5. Wait for further instructions
