Golf 2008 MMHSAA Champions
SHA's Golf Team opened their season on September 5th with an exciting victory over Nardin by a score of 255 to 266. Senior Courtney Connors was the top individual with a score of 45.
The golf team continued their winning ways with a 39 stroke margin in September 8th's match against Mt. Mercy. Once again Courtney Connors was medalist with a low score of 43.
*SHA's match against Immaculata at Harvest Hill Golf Course on September 10 was shortened due to darkness with only 5 holes being played. The final 4 holes of this match were completed on October 1. SHA's top five golfers were: Courtney Connors at 43, Gabby Zemer at 48, Mary Canty at 50, Mikaela Brady at 57, and Reba Conway at 58.
SHA's first loss of the season was to non-league Williamsville on September 15th at the Transit Valley Golf Course. SHA's top five golfers were: Courtney Connors with a 49, Gabby Zemer and Claire McMahon both with a 51, Mary Canty with a 52, and Siobhan Brady with a 54.
SHA bounced back with another victory making their record 4-1 for the season as they trounced Buffalo Seminary by a 92 stroke margin. Top medalist was Claire McMahon with a low score of 49 strokes. SHA's other top golfers were Mary Canty at 51, Kathleen Ruggierio with 57, Sara Eyeington at 60, and Reba Conway at 67 strokes.
SHA beat Holy Angels on September 22 making their record a perfect 5-0 in the MML and 5-1 overall. Gabby Zemer was top medalist with a low score of 47.
It was another victory for the Lady Sharks when they played Mt. St. Mary on September 24. SHA is now 6-0 in the MML. Courtney Connors earned top medalist honors with a low score of 42. SHA's other top golfers were Mary Canty, Gabby Zemer, and Claire McMahon who all tied at 52 strokes apiece. Sara Eyeington rounded up the top 5 golfers with a score of 62.
SHA's Golf Team finished with a PERFECT Record in MMHSAA and captured the 2008 MMHSAA Championship Trophy!!
Congratulations to Senior Courtney Connors who tied for first place with 92 strokes at All Catholics
held on Sunday, October 5th, at Rothland Golf Course in Akron.
