Classroom Behavior

Classroom conduct:

Please remember that if your action interferes with your learning or with the learning of others, it is not acceptable.  I expect you to follow school behavioral guidelines at all times.  In addition, there will be specific classroom procedures that we will develop and practice in our life science class.  Your participation points and citizenship grade will depend on how well you adhere to these guidelines and procedures.

Your citizenship evaluation will be determined using the following scale:

Outstanding = O         Satisfactory = S            Needs Improvement = N         Unsatisfactory = U

No classroom disruptions will be tolerated.  Students choosing to violate the rules of behavior will first receive a warning.  Further disruption will result in parent contacts. Referrals to the counselor’s and dean’s offices will be made as necessary.

School-Wide Tardy Policy

  • 1st tardy: Warning
  • 2nd tardy:  Deans’ Detention, Phone call home
  • 3rd & 4th Tardy:  RPC-Tardy (Parent must sign-in the student before beginning the school day or the student will have In-House Suspension for the remainder of the day with an RPC issued for the following day.)
  • 5th Tardy:  RPC
  • 6th Tardy or more: Suspension

District policy states that tardiness of 30 minutes or more in a class period is deemed an absence.

Attendance

The limitation of absences is ten (10) per semester.  A student will receive a semester grade of “F” in any course where s/he exceeds ten (10) absences in a semester.  Parents may arrange an absence in advance of the absence in writing up to 10 days per year.  Arranged absences and approved absences for which make up work has been completed may not count toward the limitation of absences.
