Our beautiful Kindergarten students have been busy studying the element of line! They were introduced to many different kinds of lines (thick, thin, curved, etc) . They also learned new vocabulary words such as horizontal lines, vertical lines and diagonal lines. We had fun drawing many different lines and during studio time, created pictures using pencil, crayon and oil pastel. The element of shape was introduced and wow, did those students know their shapes! They learned about geometric and free-form shapes along with new vocabulary words. Studio time was spent making Kitty. Kitty was made using lots of lines, color and identifying shapes to put her together. Cutting and using the glue stick were a challenge! Students continued to review geometric shapes and were challenged to make their "GEO-Man". Again, lots of color , cutting and pasting!! It's November and the students are being introduced to the element of form. To understand that form is something that can be seen on all sides, our studio activity included working with clay. Some students already made clay pinch pots. It takes the clay a few weeks to dry and then it will be fired in our kiln. Then the fun begins with painting the piece with glazes!
