Winners Substance Abuse Awareness Poster Contest STATE WINNERS !!! St. Ambrose School is proud to announce two state winners of the Substance Abuse Awareness Poster Contest sponsored by the Latham Colonie # 3394 Knights of Columbus. The winners are: eighth grader, Audrey Hughes and fifth grader, Nick Kowalchyck. Other first place winners are Danielle Boudiwan and Reid Kisselback. Our second place winners on the Local level are Stephanie Morgan and Chyanne Bridger. Third place winners are Jeremiah White, Hayleigh Apisa and Karan Patel. This is an international contest which is sponsored by many chapters of the Knights of Columbus each year with over 15,000 children participating throughout the Order. Winners of previous years and their local councils, and locations can be viewed on the internet. Our students were among over 250 local participants from Catholic schools and parishes in our area and of the twelve possible winning placements, St. Ambrose School had eight! Students were encouraged to develop an original poster and slogan promoting awareness of the negative effects that alcohol and drug abuse may have on their peers and society. Our State winner’s artwork will go on to the International Competition in Quebec City, Canada in August and hopefully we will have another winner in another category. The winners received plaques and savings bonds from the Knights of Columbus. St. Ambrose School has had four state level winners over the last six years. Mr. Paul DeDominicis is the representative of the Latham Colonie Knights of Columbus and Sr. Vivian Giulianelli, ************************* Congratulations to our 8th graders!!!
