About Title I
|
|
Title I is a federally funded program. The funds are used to provide a remedial reading program to help children develop the necessary skills to become successful readers. Students enrolled in the Title I program may be seen in small groups or individually for approximately forty minutes every day. Instuctional emphasis includes phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehesion and fluency. Instruction is provided by the Instructional Aide, Mrs. Nancy Wagner, or myself. We use several programs that complement and reinforce the core reading program used in the classroom. These include - My Sidewalks, Early Interventions in Reading, and Reading Mastery. We are flexible in addressing individual student progress in reading. Students who are doing well in the program may be exited from our class. We do continue to monitor their reading progress in order to make sure they are reading within established benchmarks for first grade. Students who are experiencing difficulty in the classroom during the year may be entered into the program. We have regular communication between the Title I teacher and the classroom teacher.
