*Please note:  I added info regard what to study for the Social Studies test.
 
 
Spelling test** - Tuesday 10/7.  There is NO school on Monday 10/6 due to a Teachers' Convention.
 
**Please note:  I have listed the spelling words that we will be covering over the next few weeks on the website.  Should you wish to review them, please click on the "Spelling Homework and Tests" link which is listed under the "Classroom News" link.
 
Social Studies test - Tuesday October 7th.  Unit 1, Chapter 1, pages 8-26 in textbook.  *Vocabulary words to know:  citizen, community, construction, rural, suburban, urban, transportation.  *Review pages 18 & 19 (options, consequences, solutions).  There will be several questions on these terms.

 This week in school, we are covering the following topics:

 

Science:  Lesson 3, Chapter 1 - How Do Plants Grow From Seeds?, Chapter 1 Test coming soon  (We will be making review sheets first and when it is determined, I will announce the test date on this page.) 
 
Math:  Odd and Even:  (Identify odds and evens, properties of odds and evens) Rounding/Estimation (with 2 digits), Properties (Commutative, Associative, Additive property of Zero), Add/Subtract with 2 digits (addition with regrouping). 
 
Social Studies:  Reviewing Geography Skills -  Unit 1, Chapter 1 - Communities
 
Reading:  Story - "Goldilocks and the Three Bears;"  Synonyms - words with similar meanings (e.g., hat and cap); Drawing Conclusions, a conclusion is a decision you make about what happens in a story
 
Grammar:  Subjects and Predicates, a subject is the word or group of words about which something is said in the sentence; the predicate is the word or group of words that tells something about the subject
 
Phonics:  Double Consonants; Review Long a:  a-e; Review Long i:  i-e; Review Long o: o-e; Review Long e:  ee, ea, ie, ey; Review Long e:  e, y
 
Spelling:  Long e (many, family, lucky, busy, seem, deep, week, asleep, idea, video, secret, even, speak, mean, least)
 
Handwriting:  Beginning cursive hand writing
