Science Class Responsibilities 1. Bring your book, science folder, and a pencil to class every day. 2. All of your work should be kept in a folder with pockets and clips. Each trimester you will receive a new folder for your assignments. Please keep lined loose-leaf paper in the clip section for daily class notes. You will organize your work by date and topic and place it in the pocket sections. The folder will be evaluated for a grade each trimester. 3. Check the board daily for homework assignments and due dates. This information will also be posted on the St. Francis website, but for the most up to date work, please use the classroom board. If you are absent, call a responsible classmate for assignments. When you return to school, look in the homework file in the back of the class for handouts and check with me about making up tests and other assignments. You will have a reasonable amount of time to make up work if you are absent, however, points will be deducted from papers if they are late for no reason. 4. Although we do not use the textbook daily, it is important to read the material in your textbook that corresponds to the unit we are studying. This reading will help you to prepare for labs, class discussions, and tests. 5. Take notes daily in your science folder. Note-taking will help you develop your listening skills and a have a better understanding of the material. 6. Fifty percent of your grade is based upon homework, class assignments, and the science folder, and fifty percent on tests and major projects. 7. When working in lab, be sure to: 1) Wash all of the equipment that you use and return it to its proper place. 2) Clean the area with a sponge. 3) Wait to be dismissed before leaving the lab. 8. Always respect the rights, opinions, and belongings of others.
