My name is Sandy Walker and I am your student's Fourth Grade teacher for the school year 2009-2010. I am very happy and blessed to be beginning my eighth year teaching at Camp Creek Elementary and my eleventh year as part of the Camp Creek Family. Our only child, Ashley, entered kindergarden here in 2000 and spent six awesome years here, three at Trickum Middle School, and is now a junior at Parkview High School. We love the Parkview Cluster and hope to be here for a long time. My husband, Jerry, Ashley and I spend lots of time with community and church activities and trips to Disney Word and Myrtle Beach.

My teaching career began long before my Camp Creek experience. I accepted my first teaching job in 1977, in St. Albans, WV teaching at a public school for TMI students aged 10-12.  I loved it and never wanted to do anything different. In 1982, I received my Master's Degree in SLD, EBD, and Reading. I transferred to an elementary school and taught a self-contained class of 5th and 6th Grade SLD boys. I loved my boys and never wanted to do anything different. Several of my boys got the opportunity to be mainstreamed and I was asked to teach 6th Grade and take my boys with me. Again, I loved what I was doing and never wanted to leave. Then... my husband swept me off my feet, married me, and took me to Baltimore. There, I began teaching at a school/residential treatment center for EBD kids. Again my kids were aged 10-12 and I hoped to retire there one day!!! Our daughter was born-I wanted to stay home...I wanted to teach...I wanted it all! I was then given the opportunity to use my Reading Specialist skills AND be a Mom. I worked three days a week testing and remediating students and was able to take Ashley with me to the Campus Daycare. This was an awesome experience for both of us. We never wanted to leave. Then...my husband came home from The St. Paul Insurance Co. one evening and announced that we would be moving to St. Paul, MN. I took the year off, and was hired to teach a brain trauma class in the local public school for the following year. My husband was then transferred to Atlanta. We moved here in July, 2000 and I became the Reading Specialist at Arbor Montessori in Decatur. This was very different and I really loved it, but after volunteering many hours at Camp Creek, Mrs. Jones offered me the opportunity to be a part time Reading Specialist. Three days before pre-planning, Mrs. Jones called and asked me to fill a classroom vacancy for 5th Grade. What a learning experience-four years worth- and then I got an itch for 4th Grade. What a wonderful Grade Level and what an exciting curriculum. I love it...
