High Frequency Words

|
High frequency words are words that appear over and over in any written document. They are learned as sight words, meaning they are not to be sounded out each time a child encounters the word but instead are memorized and recognized immediately. First graders start in September learning the most basic and most frequent of words: the, and, I, a, is, look and so on. Words increase in number and difficulty as the year goes on.
