St. Aloysius Notables St. Aloysius School strives to reflect the teaching of the Catholic Church by dedicating itself to the living of the Gospel. The message of Christ is reflected in the classroom instruction and example, thereby providing our students with the basic skills necessary to achieve self-worth in life. In addition, since we believe that all persons are called to be responsible stewards in the world, we challenge our students to participate in community service beyond the academic environment. We provide our students with the avenues to grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. • Each morning the day begins when prayer is shared by the student body and lead by the principal. Likewise, our day ends with a school-wide prayer. • Various prayer services, such as The Way of the Cross, are conducted throughout the year. • Our school stresses its Sacramental Program and encourages parental involvement. • All teachers have received or are working toward Religion accreditation. • A well-defined curriculum is developed in the following areas: Religion, Math, Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Music, and Physical Education. • Students from Grade 4 to Grade 8 participate in the our youth choir (Voices of Hope) which sings at church on a regular basis. • Volunteerism is stressed and encouraged. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders become actively involved in the community by volunteering during different events like: Turkey Baskets for the Needy, Christmas Caroling to Shut-Ins, and Easter Flowers to those who have recently lost a loved one. • A school-wide monetary collection is taken up during Advent to help the local and global population that may be in need.
• St. Aloysius prides itself in an active Scouting program. • Since academics is a focal point of St. Aloysius School our scholars demonstrate their capabilities in the Terra Nova Testing. • Students in grades 5 through 8 have the opportunity to compete in both the Diocesan Spelling Bee and the Montgomery County Spelling Bee. • An array of Essay, Poetry, and Art contests are made available for interested students to enter. • Semi-annually, Forensics teams from Grades 5 and 6, and Grades 7 and 8 compete at St. Pius X High School where we have been awarded first place the past three years. • Each year our students have placed among those being awarded partial scholarships for St. Pius X High School. • St. Aloysius 8th graders are given the opportunity to compete each spring with about 300 other 8th graders from this part of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. First place is awarded a full four year high school scholarship, and second place, a partial scholarship. Since 1995, six of our students have attained this prestigious award and been named Neuman Scholars. • Monthly dances are sponsored by the 6th, 7th and 8th grade Youth Group. • A variety of sports activities are offered: soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, cheerleading, track, and participation in St. Pius X ice hockey and St. Pius X football. • All students participate in a bi-annual school musical production in which general and individual talent is recognized.
