| December 2008 Dear Parents and Students, We will welcome more LEAP students in January to our classes. For the new students, LEAP is a class where we do different activities that involve literature of all types. Those in grade 3-5 read novels and do related work developed around that particular novel. Work could take the form of discussion groups with topical questions or acting out portions of that novel to make a certain point. LEAP students in grades k-2 read in chapter books and do interest area spin-offs from their reading. Our 2nd graders have brought in a pyramid center, an ocean center and a solar system center all with reports. Others continue to work on their chosen interest area at home to make ready to bring in to class. I appreciate the continued enthusiasm of our LEAP students in k-5. What a great group of young people. We all look forward to our new and old joiners in the NEW YEAR 2009. Sincerely, Ms. Sheila D. Zagar LEAP Teacher St Patrick School |
