F.A.Q. F.A.Q.

1. What is the "Pinney Prediction"?

If you do every assignment on time and take every assessment, you will  pass this course. If you show effort - in Science or in life- it is almost impossible to fail.

2. Is work accepted late?

Middle school policy states no late homework will be accepted unless it is due to an absence. Late projects will lose a letter grade for each day late.

3. What should I do before a test?

Start to study a few days before the test day. Make each study session short, possibly 15 minutes or so. Remember to see the big picture of the topic you are studying.

Don't just read your notes. Make sense of your notes, your homework answers, assigned reading and your lab work.

Review your C.G. if there is one.

Spend more time writing or typing or drawing the things you need to learn.

Find a friend to ask you questions.

Make up a test for yourself: a thinking map, multiple choice questions, etc...

Make a study sheet. Then ask someone at home to ask you to explain each thing on your study sheet.

Swap study sheets with a friend and see if you understand the work your friend did.

Be prepared and don't panic. :)

4. What do I do when I return from an absence?

Check the binder on the front white board. It is titled Science Assignments. Turn to your grade's section. Read what we did in class the day(s) of your absence and write down any homework assignments. Check the pocket of your grade's section for any handouts.

Complete the assignments you missed and then show them to me so that I can give you credit for them. You have 1 day to make up your missed assignments for each day absent. If you were absent for 2 days, you have to 2 days to make up the assignments.

Check with someone in your group for missed notes or lab instructions/data.
