It seems like just yesterday, I was frightening 100+ strangers to make sure they stayed in line during the year. Now, I see 100+ individuals many of whom have become a part of my extended Riverside family. I have had the pleasure of getting to know the fine young ladies and gentlemen of the class of 2011. I am honored to have shared their laughter and tears, their triumphs and tragedies. I am proud to have been a small part of their lives and look forward to seeing who they become. I see so many great things in their futures. Some years drag showing no evidence of winding down; this year flew like students to the cafeteria on nugget day. I am sad to see them go and will miss them greatly.

And, I realized something just last week. The class of 2007 was my 1st at Riverside. I am so proud of them that it brings me to tears. When I started at Riverside in 2002, I was an Invader teaching in Riverside. I'm not sure when it happened, but this past Friday (after Culture Day and Class Night), I realized that I was a Viking. A Viking who is proud of her students for all that they are and all that they do.
