Twilight
Once upon a time...

AMAZING book... abysmal movie
I absolutely love reading. There's nothing better than getting lost in a story... visualizing the story in my mind helps me to connect with the characters.

As anyone who has encountered me this school year knows, I LOVE the book Twilight. The ironic part is that I had no desire to read it; I couldn't have cared less about a book about vampires and did not think I would be able to get into the story. Good grief I was SO wrong! (Something I can't say this very often.) I was hypnotized from the beginning; I coudln't put it down. I walked around my house with the book in my hand until I was done with it... I was up until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer then woke just to grab it again. I got lost in the story like I hadn't in such a long time. I found myself smiling as I read certain parts and yelling out loud at others. Anyone walking past my house definitely thought I was nuts.

I was excited for the movie despite the fact that I was anticipating hating it. Unfortunately, I was right - I did hate it. It did not do justice to the story. It did not paint the perfect picture I had in my mind. I understand that movies have to take certain liberties to get a book made in an allotted amount of time, but this was so far from the text that it made me angry to see what they had done to my perfect story. It just goes to show that there is rarely any movie that can stand up to the intricate story created by a book.

The even more amazing thing about this book (aside from the perfection known as Edward) and subsequent movie is that is has brought so many people together. Adults and students alike, whether they love it or hate it, have found common ground in discussion of this book. A fire has been lit in so many people who are now searching for the next story that they can get lost in.

Twilight is addictive. Edward is perfect. An reading is a pleasure that everyone should partake in... it's free!
