7th Grade Social Studies

• During the year, we will be learning about the early part of United States history leading up to the Civil War.

• We will also be studying the Federal Constitution. Students are required to pass a Federal Constitution Test per the Illinois State Board of Education requirements.

• The time period we will cover ranges from 10 million years ago to around 1865 AD.

• We will cover ancient and modern Native American cultures, colonization, exploration, the Revolutionary War, state history, the slavery issue, the events leading up to the Civil War, and modern state information.

• We will be participating in geography activities, note taking (using the outline form), quizzes, simulations, tests, essays, and projects throughout the year.

Expectations:

I expect all students to follow the guidelines expressed in the student handbook as well as being prepared for class, following the directions, and taking all assignments/projects seriously.
