SuccessMaker Enterprise Tutorials and Tools for Many Subjects

This bundle of award-winning computer tutorials and tools are available through our school network to every teacher and student at SMI.  It is installed on every computer in the classrooms, library and computer lab at Saint Mary's Institute.  Every teacher and student has a username and password used to access SuccessMaker Enterprise programs.

Math Tutorials & Tools

• Math Concepts and Skills 2 - Kindergarten through 8th Grade Math Tutorial with detailed feedback for parents and teachers, plus individualized worksheets for students. 
  • All SMI students begin the year with the placement test built into Math Concepts and Skills 2, ideally completed in September or October.  By responding to approximately 250 math questions, MCS2 sets up an individualized math program for each child based on which areas of mathmatic they know well and which they need to review or learn next.  Each student may continue with the tutorial throughout the year, or until they complete their grade level.
• Algebra Topics - For our accelerated Math students in 8th Grade to prepare for the Algebra Regents Exam.
• Math Corner - Many manipulative math tools for younger students.
• Math Processor - Math tools for older students
• Math Investigations - Fun problem solving Math challenges for grades 5-8.
• Math Concepts and Skills Spanish - Math tutorial for Spanish speakers.

Science Tutorials & Tools

• Science Discovery - Science Discovery is a highly interactive, motivating course designed to provide science instruction for middle-school students. Students in grades six through eight practice scientific reasoning and process skills as they learn about the world around them through the experiments and activities in the course.  Science Discovery is organized into independent modules, each focusing on a specific content concerning the physical, earth, and life sciences: Static Electricity, Light and Lenses, Motion, Forces, Waves, Sound, Circuits, Simple Machines, Cells, and Plate Tectonics.

• Reading Readiness - Kindergaten tutorial for pre-reading skills
• First Adventures Bookshelf - simple books and activities for K-1
• Initial Reading - Beginning reading tutorial for K-2 students
• Readers Workshop - Reading tutorial fro grades 3-4
• Reading Adventures Primary - a literature-based reading and language arts course for first and second grades. Grounded in educational research and designed to adapt its presentation of content according to individual student needs, Reading Adventures Primary provides instruction in comprehension, phonics, word study, vocabulary, and reading strategies. It also offers opportunities for personal responsesto literature through speaking, writing, and drawing activities. Reading Adventures Primary uses multimedia—text, graphics, audio, video, and animation—to engage, motivate, and teach young readers.
• Reading Adventures -  a literature-based reading course designed to build reading strategies and skills in the context of authentic, multicultural literature, the course provides multimedia-based activities that promote learning, help students construct meaning and build comprehension skills, and foster enjoyment of reading.  Grades 3-6
• Reading Investigations - develops reading comprehension and thinking abilities by guiding students through interesting and challenging reading activities for students 6-8.
• Vamos a Leer! - Reading program for Spanish speakers K-2

Language Arts Tutorials & Tools

• Story Painter - Write and illustrate stories, for K-5.
• Writers Workshop - Writer’s Studio is a process writing program for students in grades 3 through 8. It provides guidance at all stages of the writing process, hundreds of writing and publishing ideas, assessment checklists and rubrics for both teacher and student, and a unique project-planning tool that helps students plan and organize their work for writing projects. Writer’s Studio also provides tools and resources that students need for researching and choosing a topic, producing drafts, revising and proofreading their writing, and publishing their work—all in an interactive multimedia environment that makes writing rewarding and enjoyable.
• Spelling Skills - Spelling tutorial combines practice, tutoring, and Games to help students achieve spelling mastery at grade levels 2-8
