ANALYTICAL READING & WRITING III:  JUSTICE IN LITERATURE

January 11, 2012 - May 16, 2012

OVERVIEW:

In this course, students will study several aspects of the theme of justice. The short fiction, essays, novels, and articles will enable students to study the moral and legal definitions of justice, the images and characters that illustrate themes of justice, and how our perceptions of justice have shaped our values and language.  From the divine justice of Dante's Inferno to the justice of man in Melville's Billy Budd,, students will explore what justice has meant and ought to mean in our society.

Students in this course will be graded and will receive honors credit for both the second and third trimesters.
