Meet the Librarian

Hi!  I'm Kathy Cherry, the Librarian here at Piner.  I've loved books for as long as I can remember....so being a librarian is the best job in the world!  I grew up in Clovis, New Mexico and when I was in high school Science was my favorite subject. So when I went to college, I studied Biology and Geology.  Just as I was getting ready to graduate, one of my professors asked me to teach a class...and that's when I decided I loved teaching.  I graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in Biology and a secondary teaching certificate.  I taught science in the Clovis schools for 14 years and then I decided to move to Sherman where I started teaching at Piner.  I taught 8th grade science at Piner for 4 years and went back to college to study Library Science.  I graduated from UNT with a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science and moved into the library.  I miss teaching, but now I get to see all the great kids at Piner, and not just the ones on my team.  I have a very handsome son, Brian who is studying for his degree in Environmental Health and Safety.  I also have a very spoiled Chihuahua named Lola and an 18 pound tomcat named Thomas who share my home with me, along with my mom Nancye, her Chihuahua,  Sugarbean and her cat Callie.  Come and see me in the library and let's talk books!
