Homework will be given every night Monday through Thursday. Spelling and math homework will be given each night. Other assignments may include grammar, handwriting, science, social studies, or reading. Your child's homework folder has a keep home and bring back side. Homework papers will always be on the Bring Back side of the homework folder. Correspondence from the school, (ie. lunch menu, monthly news, PTO info., etc...) will be on the Keep Home side. Please look at, empty, and refill your child's folder EVERY day. The children do not have an assignment book and you do not need to sign their homework papers. Neither of these things are necessary if you look in the folder every day and keep it neat. Don't forget to remove the previous week's spelling list and practice reading book every week to make room for the new one. Also, the homework generally follows the same pattern, which is as follows: Spelling-Monday- write each word two times each; Tuesday-reinforcement worksheet; Wednesday-reinforcement worksheet; Thursday-study list for Friday's test Math- a worksheet reinforcing the day's lesson is given each day. Additionally, flashcards should be reviewed every night. Finally, the night before a chapter test, a review sheet similar to the chapter test will be sent home to use to study . Reading-Take-home practice books will be sent weekly. Please practice ! Even though they may seem easy, the books are designed to reinforce sight words and the week's phonics sound. *Please note-Although the children do not get homework on a Friday, they still always have a job to do. They will always bring home a Friday Envelope. Their "homework" will be to give you the folder, look through it, discuss any problem papers together, keep the papers at home, have you sign it, and return it to their bookbag to give to me on Monday. Whew!-Sounds like a lot, but really not so bad. This Friday Envelope is the only place that the children's classwork and tests will be placed to be sent home. This is to keep their homework folder from getting cluttered with old papers. If you have a concern about a particular skill's classwork or a test score before the end of the week, jot me a note or call and I'll send home the work sooner.
