Back to School

Back to school is just around the corner! If you plan to do school shopping before Meet the Teacher Night, here's what I can tell you about what we supply the children with and what you will need to provide. More detailed information will be given at Meet the Teacher Night on September 2.

The children receive folders, crayons, pencils, erasers, scissors, and glue sticks. You are still welcome to send any of these items. However, it is not necessary. I do prefer that every child has a small plastic pencil box to contain any of these items brought from home. Some items that I do not prefer the children to have are binders, markers, gel pens, notebooks, or more than one pencil box. These are unnecessary and space-wasting in the children's desks.

Each child does need a backpack(remember, no wheels!) and a lunch box if he or she packs. Also, if you send lunch money to school with your child, please be sure to label the envelope with your child's name, NLSD Food Services, and your child's pin number. As always, sending a check is safer than cash. Lost money is very hard to track down! 

Don't forget to write your child's name on everything you send with them(ie: coats,lunch boxes, even backpacks!). You would be very surprised at the number of same backpacks and lunch boxes and at the size of our lost and found!

You will need to send a shirt that can be used as a smock for art class. Please try to send this in during the first two weeks of school. Be sure the shirt has your child's name written on it.

I will be reviewing all of this information and adding more at Meet the Teacher Night before school begins on September 2, so please come! I will also be giving your child a nametag at Meet the Teacher Night that he or she should wear on the first day so I can quickly identify them as my students and get them to our classroom easily.
