Welcome to Second Grade!

Here's what we have been working on in class.

Religion: During the month of October we talked about heroes and saints and how we, as disciples of Jesus, can act in good and holy ways. We also learned about prayers of praise and thanks.We are beginning to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Reading: We completed our first unit test. In unit 2 we will continue to work on comprehension strategies, such as context clues,sequencing events,making inferences,and writing summaries.

Writing: The class wrote autumn poems. First we brainstormed what we see,hear, touch,taste and smell when we think of the Fall.

Math: We have finished our review of addition and subtraction facts. We are beginning our unit on place value and money.

Social Studies:This month we will be learning about different landforms and water. This unit will also introduce the children to the concept of caring for the Earth's natural resources.

Science: This month, we learned about fossils and dinosaurs. We even made our very own "fossils" in science lab.We are now studying the properties of matter.
