Mrs. Sabrina Handke              

Education:

I was raised on a farm near the town of Effingham and graduated in 1996 from Atchison County Community High School (ACCHS).  I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a special middle school endorsement in social sciences from Kansas State University in 2001.  I spent the next two years teaching 5th grade at Salt Creek Valley Elementary School, which is part of the Pleasant Ridge School District.  In 2003 I came to Midway and worked as the librarian.  In 2004 I was hired as the 7th and 8th social studies teacher at the newly contracted Doniphan West Middle School.  In the summer of 2006 I completed my Masters Degree in Education from Baker University.  In February 2009 I was hired on as the middle school social studies teacher in the newly formed USD 111 Doniphan West District.

Family:

In 2002 I married my high school sweetheart, Brian Handke.  Brian is a Vice President for the Exchange National Bank in Atchison, but actually manages their branch bank in Effingham, Kansas. We have two children, Avery 5, Benjamin 3, and a new addition to arrive in early August.  We reside on a farm south of Bendena. 

Hobbies:

I really enjoy spending time playing with my kids and am very excited for this summer, when Ben will be much older to enjoy the outdoors.  I also enjoy watching TV (I am kind of a TV junkie), watching K-State sporting events, and other sporting events.  When I can find the time I enjoy reading, doing needlework, and scrapbooking.  I have recently taken a cake decorating class and have begun making cakes for other people and am really enjoying this new adventure.
