Mrs. Handke's/Mrs. Meyer's Social Studies/English Classrooms

Welcome to the Doniphan West Middle School Social Studies/ English website and welcome to another great year of school.  On this website students and parents can find out what exciting things are happening in our classrooms.

This year, we are fortunate to have our schedules coincide in order to do cross-curricular teaching in the Social Studies and Language Arts areas. This new block schedule will allow us to integrate the Language Arts and Reading programs into the Social Studies curriculum. For example writing assignments, projects, vocabulary, and reading assignments will center around the units of study in both areas.  

This is a new and exciting new method of teaching, which we as teachers feel will better prepare our students for the future, both socially and academically.

On this website you will find daily lessons, class power points, homework assignments, study guides, and dates of upcoming quizzes and tests. You  will also find information about major projects, such as when they are due, the expectations of the project, and the rubric that will be used to grade the projects. Aalso included will be a variety of links related to our topics of study. 

We will be updating the website as often as we can! As the year goes on we'll be adding a variety of new information. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about our social studies classroom or anything you see on this website.
