LEVEL ll VOCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS
(Help in planning for the transition from school to work)
Vocational Training? Job? College? Military Service?
Job Coach? Workshop?
During the transition process, parents and teachers may have questions about how well a student will fit into the adult world of work after high school. Sometimes a student's unique abilities and talents are not fully demonstrated in an academic setting. A Level Il Vocational Assessment provides a realistic picture of a student's strengths, weaknesses and interests for career planning. Results predict vocational competency levels, suggest appropriate vocational and residential placements (including independent living) and outlines compensatory strategies and worksite modifications/accommodations to help students meet the demands of work.
Level Il Vocational Assessments are available to all students with IEPs aged 14-21 by referral of the home school district Committee on Special Education. Students, parents and/or teachers may request a Level II Vocational Assessment to help plan for transition goals to meet requirements of the New York State Education Department Standards for Career Development and Occupational Studies. The assessment is a 1-3 hours, hands-on evaluation that is done at the student's classroom site.
