| About Mrs. Gillespie: Mrs. Gillespie has been teaching at Hillsboro High School since 1995. She graduated cum laude with her bachelor of science in education from Southeast Missouri State University, where she majored in English and minored in Spanish. She is certified to teach English grades 7-12 and Spanish grades K-9. Mrs. Gillespie earned an advanced degree in English in 1999 and graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University; this degree has allowed her to teach dual enrollment courses for HHS though Jefferson College. She earned a specialist degree in educational leadership through Southeast Missouri State University in May 2010 and is currently completing an administrative internship to become a certified in secondary administration.
Mrs. Gillespie has taught a variety of courses for the HHS Language Arts Department. This year she is teaching Applied Communications, Advanced Composition, Advanced Critical Writing, and Publications (yearbook). She has also taught summer school for 16 years. In addition to her regular teaching career, Mrs. Gillespie also worked for Leader Publications for 10 years as a writer and photographer for special sections. She has also taught regularly for the last 10 years for Jostens Printing and Publishing Division at summer yearbook workshops. |
