Textbook Homework:
Assignments will be announced verbally and written on the white board. Students will be expected to note them in their planners. Usually they involve reading a chapter section, and either outlining it and/or answering the section review questions. A typical assignment will look something like this:  "7th - Read 2-1 (Do SR 1-4)"
This means that the seventh graders must read chapter 2, section 1, and answer the section review questions 1 - 4. Assignments are due the following class day. Students are encouraged to read the entire chapter section first, and then answer the questions.

Lab Worksheets:
These are to be completed and turned in the next class day following the lab.  Each student must individually complete their own calculations and lab questions, even though some raw data may be shared in their work group.

Trimester Reports:
7th Grade-- Starting in their third trimester, each student will give one short verbal presentation to the class based on a current science news item found in magazines, newspapers, or on official news or science website (no personal blogs please).

8th Grade-- Each trimester, each student will give one verbal presentation to the class.
                The topic areas will be:
1st trimester = Current science news item.
2nd trimester = Element from periodic table.
3rd trimester = Famous scientist or scientific discovery.  Students will be required to have this presentation done on Power Point.

Science Fair:
All middle school science students will participate in the science fair scheduled for the 2nd trimester. See that specific page for details.
