-   Textbooks:  Each student will sign out and be responsible for one textbook at a time, for each topical area covered in class.  Students will not mark in, on, or mistreat their texts.

-   Attention:  Students will respect others by contributing to a healthy learning atmosphere in class.  There will be times when students work alone, or with small groups.

-   Teams:  Classes will have assigned seating and be organized into three work teams called “pods.”  Although students may not necessarily be in the same pod all semester, they will be required to cooperate with the small group on labs or other assigned projects.  These are work and study groups, not socializing groups.

-   Questions:  Always permitted!  However, personal matters and questions must be discussed outside of class.  Off-topic questions may not necessarily be addressed immediately.  If not, they will be written on the board for follow up.

-   Materials:  Paper and writing utensils as needed.  Graph paper and red pencils or pens for grading are required.  Students are encouraged to not bring mechanically complicated pens and pencils that require frequent maintenance during class.  Students may use personal calculators.  Work may be typed, printed or written in cursive.

-   Homework:  Assignments will be listed on the white board and announced by the teacher.  Students are expected to write assignments into their planner.

-   Folders:  Students will both submit and receive paperwork by using their pod folder.  Assignments for submitting to the teacher are placed into the center of the folder (not in the pockets).  Once the work has been graded, and/or needs to be distributed to the students, it will be placed in the pockets by the teacher.

-   Safety:  Students will be encouraged to be curious and to explore, however, due to the constant presence of laboratory equipment and/or substances, students will ABSOLUTELY NOT handle any equipment or materials without permission and instruction.  This is for your own safety!

-   Personal belongings:  Aisles and doorways must be kept clear at all times.  Backpacks and other belongings will be stowed under the tables and/or chairs.

-   Sample Grading:*
Homework = 10%
Pop Quizzes = 15%  (Lowest quiz may be dropped)
Chapter Exams = 20%
Final Exam = 20%   (Covers entire trimester)
Labs = 20%
Presentations = 15%  (As assigned for each trimester.  This
      may include: science fair, research talks or papers, or
      other special projects.

(*Weighting %'s may change slightly each trimester depending upon the presentation assignments.)

-   Paperwork:   Each student will be responsible to  organize and keep all of their graded class work for the entire trimester.  Students may submit one low quiz score to be dropped at the end of the trimester.
