Friday, October 2, 2009 Dear Parents or Guardians, The past couple of weeks have just flown by! Some of the highlights: - Our team-building day was wonderful! Ms. Heft did a terrific job planning activities that brought us together in the meaning of “working as a team”.
- We enjoyed meeting so many families at our potluck and at conferences the past few weeks.
- Our field trip to Wolf Creek Indian Village was great! The kids were terrific and very cooperative. The weather was cool but dry!! We really enjoyed seeing the Indian village and it was a perfect ending to our Native American studies.
- Our first six weeks grading period ended Wednesday. Report cards will go home on October 7th.
In the classroom: - Math 6 classes are working on our Algebraic Expressions and Equations unit. You would be amazed at how well they can solve pretty complicated equations! Advanced math has been working on the first of three algebra units dealing with linear equations.
- Science classes are learning about properties of matter. We start with physical properties and will move to chemical and atomic properties.
- Language Arts classes have started reading Native American theme novels.
- Social Studies classes are studying the Native American cultures and will begin learning about the European explorers.
Have a wonderful fall weekend, Mrs. DiSalvo, Mrs. Koebel, and Ms. Minnich
