THE WORLD OF GRADE 6
** Mrs. Conlogue~Religion, Reading/Vocabulary, Math and Social Studies
** Mrs. Dana~Religion, Reading/Vocabulary, Language Arts and Science
We change classes on a daily basis. Our guidelines and expectations are very similar.
** Student agenda is to be used daily, and monitored as needed. Daily signature/check is at parental discretion. Please use the agenda as a means of communication with me, and I will plan to do the same. The 6Co website is another means of keeping you well-informed.
** Teachers encourage students to have a healthy, ready-to-eat snack daily, by 10:00.
** Please date all absence excuses, and send in the day your child returns to class. Each student has a buddy of his/her choice to assist with recording work during an absence. Any make-up work is the responsibility of each individual, within a reasonable amount of time.
** Please inform me of planned absence/tardiness, in advance, and limit late arrivals and early dismissals, as much as possible.
** Birthdays may be noted with an opportunity to dress out of uniform, and use of a free homework pass during the week of the celebration, including half-birthdays.
** We follow the diocesan grading policy, including Tests/Quizzes, Projects, Homework, Classwork and Participation.
** Please insist upon careful, accurate completion of any home assignment. You may check it, if you choose, and reiterate the importance of such follow-up to classwork. All assignments should represent neat, quality work~each student's personal best.
Home Assignments are often graded numerically.
I also use a system of Plus, Check-Plus, Check and Minus.
Assignment one day late… Minus 20%
Assignment 2-4 days late… 40%
Assignment 5-6 days late… 60%
** Please plan on approximately one hour of home assignments, Monday-Thursday, including written/study work and pleasure reading. Weekends may provide time for projects, book reports, pleasure reading, etc.
**No student has sufficient time to complete the majority of home assignments in school.
** Please assist your child in making as many “connections” as possible between any classwork and application of their knowledge to everyday life—at home, in the community, in the news, etc.
