Fine/Visual Motor Skills
|
|
I have paired fine motor and visual motor skills together as they impact each other, as well as almost every aspect of a child's education. Fine motor skills refer to the development of hand skills, including strength, dexterity, and coordination. In the school setting, fine motor skills impact such areas as manipulation of school tools, opening containers, cutting, handwriting, computer use. Visual motor skills refer to the ability to interpret and coordinate movements with the visual information that a person is receiving. This impacts many areas of education, including but not limited to the ability to complete puzzles, mazes, art projects and/or construction activities, produce legible handwriting, complete worksheets, copy from near or far, cutting, and/or ball activities. Below are links for information about and ideas to help fine motor and visual motor skills.
