Our Kindergarten Schedule

8:35- 8:50 Arrival/Greeting/Table Activities
Children put their take-home folder in the yellow basket, their backpack and coat in their locker--lunch boxes are outside their locker. On Mondays, their towel needs to be put in the bottom of their locker. Child may go to the bathroom if needed.
There are activities on each table to review or explore. Children should be seated until the tardy bell rings at 8:50.
8:50 - 8:58 Tardy bell rings, announcements are made from the office. Flag salute, song, moment of silence, school creed, and school song (if someone is wearing a school shirt), and walk to calendar area and sit in a circle.
8:58 - 9:20 Morning Meeting /Morning Message - Change helper card, Helper comes up and tells us the month, date, days of week, weather, days of school. I ask if we have a lost tooth and celebrate birthdays. We read the Morning Message, a note written from me to the class. The helper get to take the chart paper message home that day. We close going around the circle to talk. Helper will get to sit on the “yellow splat” all day. The helper from yesterday becomes the caboose in the line.
9:20 - 9:28 Music, Wiggle and Movement time. “Find you some space”
9:30 - 9:40 Restroom and drinks We line up in ABC order - first names.
9:40 - 10:10 Saxon Phonics / Handwriting / alphabet/ journals
10:10-10:30 Morning Recess (Inside days - Unit study/ video / review)
10:35 - 11:00 Reading (whole group / workstations / small group w/teacher)
11:00 - 15 minutes before lunch time--- extra storytime on the carpet.
In those 15 min., we wash our hands gather our coat, lunchbox, and lunchticket and walk to the cafeteria.

Lunch - 12:05 Recess Children line up for recess at 11:40. Children who are not finished eating may stay seated. They will walk to the playground after they are finished. I have recess duty on Tues. with Mrs. James. No parents are ever allowed on the playground at recess times. This is a safety policy for all the children.
12:05 - 12:40 Come in, put away your lunch box, take out your towel, restroom break & drinks, BRAIN BREAK (resting to music)
12:40 - 12:45 Put towel away, sit on the carpet, fingerplay or song. This is a calming time to get ready to introduce Math lesson.
12:45 - 1:20 Math (whole group / explore tubs/ workstations)
1:20 - 1:30 Snacks and clean up our crumbs Reveal rotated center
assignments.
1:30 - 1:40 Restroom breaks/ drinks We line up ABC order - first names.
1:40 - 2:20 Specials (20 minutes each class) Ms. Simspon leads Art from teacher's plans.
M - PE/Music T-CMP/Art
W- PE/Music Th- CMP/Art F-PE/Music
2:20 - 2:40 Centers (Time to use imagination/conversation to explore)
2:40 Clean Up
2:45 - 2:55 Wrap-Up/ Celebrating Our Day
2:55 - 3:05 Get Ready to go home
3:05 Car riders go sit in the hallway by East door with Mrs. Farrell
3:12 Cafeteria Car Riders go with Mrs. Simpson
3:12 Daycare go into Mrs. Chandler’s room and walk to cafeteria with me.
3:12 Bus riders go into Mrs. Ernst’s room and walk to the gym with her.
On Fridays, we will relax our schedule to allow time for seasonal activities, special units of study, and left-overs we just can't fit into the week.
